2017 Conference

The “International Small Islands Studies Association”, ISISA announces the 15th Islands of the World International Conference “Small Island Communities: Models for Global Survival” destined for Kangaroo Island, South Australia on 2-7 July 2017. This multi-disciplinary Conference will explore how small island communities are seeking to contribute to global survival, by: empowering communities for peace and productivity; preparing people for the world of to-morrow; nurturing the human spirit; protecting nature and feeding the world; and developing solutions for self-sufficiency.

This will be a Conference of academic excellence that also offers participants the opportunity to be connected with and immersed in an island community and environment.  We aim for our Conference to leave a lasting legacy for our community from the wealth of expertise attending, but conversely to also share our Island story, heritage and learnings with those attending from afar.
